Have you ever been to an outdoor expo at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex?
For the past three years that my daughter and I have participated in the Expedition Everest Challenge, the expo has been held somewhat outside. Might be because this is a really small race. 5,000 participants. It’s a really neat lil expo though. Here’s some scenes from it taken yesterday as we breezed through packet pickup.
The participant shirts had a new look to them this year. This is the only runDisney 5K where a tech shirt is given. This year’s color was gray.
Here is some of the official “I Did It” runDisney Merch. The red ladies V-Neck shirt I actually LOVE! Unfortunately, I think the shirts are waaaay overpriced and as a local, I have the perk of being able to wait to see if it makes it to the local Disney outlet store. I paid $30something for my daughters “I Did It” shirt from the 2013 WDW Half Marathon at the expo and then bought the exact shirt for myself for $6.99 a few weeks ago at the outlet. Lesson Learned.
They’ve done the signature wall for the past three years and I think it’s a nice touch. After the expo Disney will move the wall to the starting area in the Butterfly Lot over at Animal Kingdom so runners can have their photos taken in front of it. That’s my run partner there in the black. Love that kid!
All in all, it’s a really fun, low key expo. Good luck to all my fellow runners out there tonight! If you happen to see us please come say hi. We love to meet fellow Disney nerd runners!
Have you run the Expedition Everest 5K Challenge Before? What’s your favorite part? The run…or the scavenger hunt?
