In my humble opinion, October is the absolute best month to visit the Walt Disney World Resort! As you may have noticed, from my many posts and author’s bio, I love the Food & Wine Festival and love Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party…both happening in October! Even though I am an Annual Passholder, I will usually end up buying tickets to attend three of the Halloween Parties.
My family and friends attended the Halloween Party on September 29th and I wanted to share some photos with you. Here’s a shot of our group upon arrival…
What fun to still be able to dress up in costume as an adult! There were so many different characters there that night but the “best of the best” had to be the Haunted Mansion Gang that we saw at Rocket Tower Plaza. These guys were so convincing that my daughter thought that they were Cast Members and not Guests! I have never seen a better dressed bunch in all of the years that I have attended the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Disney should take a clue from this group and put the Haunted Mansion Characters out on the streets at Magic Kingdom during the party.
We of course had to see the Hallowishes Fireworks that night and they were as spectacular as always. HINT: Grab a seat behind Cinderella Castle at the table and chairs between Dumbo and Pooh’s Playful Spot to watch Hallowishes. It’s a great place to rest and you have a fantastic view of the Fireworks going off both in front of and behind you. We always sit here every year.
If you’d like to see a video of the Boo to You Parade you can watch it HERE.
Another thing, that even seasoned pro’s to the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tend to overlook, is on the Haunted Mansion Lawn. ONLY during the Halloween Party will you be privy to this wonderful, and often hilarious, show. I’m not going to give anything away here. You will just have to go to the party and see for yourself. I will show you one photo, which I thank my friend Armand for sharing!….
WARNING!: This last picture may shock you!
This is what three people accumulated at the Trick-or-Treat Stations. Mind you, we filled up several bags each and went through the candy lines multiple times while the first “Boo to You” parade was happening as well as the “Villain’s Mix and Mingle”. There was much less chocolate given out this year than any other year I have attended and the boxes of raisins were back as well after an absence last year. The candy covered my entire dining room table at home. If you’re a Dentist…LOOK AWAY!!!!
I hope that I have convinced you to attend the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. It is definitely worth the price of admission! The longest wait we experienced all night was maybe ten minutes at the most. We went to a party in September and went on a weeknight which also makes a difference in crowd levels, so if you can swing it, try and make it to an earlier party on a weeknight for the optimum experience. If you do go, and you have the guts to go in costume 8-)…please take a picture of yourselves and mail it to me for inclusion in this Halloween Party Post!
Oh my candy…I’d be in heaven!!! You guys had a blast; someday we’ll make it to that party- putting it on the must-do list 🙂
I, too, enjoyed MNSSHP. We went on the 25th and all three of my kids had a blast. My ONLY negative (and rather pet peeve) that I will most likely write to Disney about is the sexy costumes. Can’t they turn away someone for inappropriate attire? It confused my 6 year old when she saw sexy Snow White and Cinderella. “Mommy, don’t they know they are wearing dresses that are too small for them?” I shouldn’t have to explain that to her at this age, let alone in Magic Kingdom. If it weren’t for that, it would be 5 stars.
We saw some of those as well. As a former cast member, I know of certain incidents where guests were asked to change attire because it was too offensive. I would follow up with your concerns. If enough guests feel the same way as you do then Disney may do something about it.
Loved your 6-year-old’s take on the situation. Out of the mouth of babes….right? 🙂
Amanda you had a GREAT looking group!!
Oh my,,, Disney should hire THAT HAUNTED MANSION group..Fantastic Thanks for a GREAT pic
Linda…Never seen a better costumed group EVER…in all my years going….
