Animal Kingdom… But Not

tortoiseIf you love Animal Kingdom, but hate fighting the crowds, or you’re looking for a little down time, check out one of the public porches at the Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Kidani Village.

On a recent trip to Walt Disney World to visit friends who were in from out-of-town, we decided to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the parks and check out the savanna at Kidani Village.  The porches have oversized carved wooden rockers where you can sit and relax and take in the scenery.

The savanna has all kinds of cool animals you can find on the Kilimanjaro Safari, including zebras, ostriches and giraffes.  You may even get lucky enough to experience feeding time while there. This is the time of day when the animals are most active and they will actually chase the feed trucks down so you can get a really good view.

Hey girl! The boys and I went thru every inch of that place on one of our last trips. We discovered and explored all the little places there like the private porches and even the little, square viewing windows up on the top floor.

We ran into a Cast Member while we were on the top floor, who stopped and told us all this stuff about the animals were looking at. It was very cool. It was feeding time, and he told us all about how they did it, what they were feeding them, etc.

Unless you are staying there or eating at Saana, you wouldn't know any of that stuff existed. It's like all the alcoves inside the WL. When you are at Disney, you really have to stop and EXPLORE everything because every inch of Disney property has something fascinating waiting to be discovered.

I'm glad you blogged on this…those porches are little hidden gems inside the world! Good post sister!

  • Thanks Hudson….Maybe I should do another one on the cool Hidden Mickey trek and animals over at the main Lodge too. That's good times too
