I always take my visiting friends to the WalMart on 535 near Disney property. They have an entire section of the store devoted to Disney. Same with the Target on 192 near 535. Great tip Rori!

Great tips here. My brother and sister in law don't actually give them gift cards (though I'll suggest it for the next trip) but they do set an amount for the kids (then buy a few extras for Christmas gifts).
One thing we found was that there are all the area gift shops - and there are plenty - with more Disney than you can imagine, and at slightly to largely lower pricing. But also much lower quality.
But for the really cheap gifts - or gifts to bring home - its an idea.
Don't overlook WalMart & Target as well. Again, quality isn't always the best, but often better than the gift stores, and the prices are better as well.
Have to say though, if you're going for many of the WDW products, especially clothing, the quality of Disney stuff really off sets the pricing.

Well put. Its a charge card for convenience instead of a credit card for credit

We use the gift card idea at Disney and also for non-Disney excursions (Giants or SJ Sharks games, Universal Studios, etc). The real savings here is your sanity. Also it teaches desirable attitudes about scarcity to kids who may otherwise think your credit card is an endless fountain of toys and snacks for them.

We did this with DD during last years Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. She loves to go sample all the foods but they add up. We got her the wristband gift card loaded it with $50 and said...there ya go. Get whatever you want but this is all you get...choose wisely. She liked the independence of having her own budget too.

Love the Disney Gift Card idea. My oldest is almost 7 and I think next time we head to Disney (soon I hope), we will try this with him. We did the Disney Dining plan for our last 4+ trips. On the last two with our kids, we brought a lot of snacks with us. Things like oatmeal bars served as a breakfast on the way to catch the bus, or while waiting on line for the parks to open. There were also few times that we used snack credits to get a danish or cinnamon bun. Love the Vinalymation advice. I was too cheap to take a risk while there in February and just the other day was kicking myself. Like you, I went to ebay and may splurge on a few that I really like soon. Thanks for the great advice!
