I sent out a tweet that went something like this…”Where should I have breakfast this morning in Disneyland?” I got a resounding CARNATION CAFE!!! And also a “Say Hello to Oscar”. Oscar…has been cooking up breakfasts for park guests for over 55 years. A chef that has perfected his craft over the course of 55 years and huevos rancheros? SOLD!
The cafe is smack dab on Main Street USA and gives you the option of seating indoors or dining al fresco out on the patio. Our group chose to sit inside. Check out the red carnations on each one of the tables.
Let’s get into the eats! As an east coaster, anticipating my vacation, I had been eyeing the menus at every Disneyland Resort restaurant and was giddy to see so many Mexican offerings. I’m a Mexican food junkie and could not wait to get my fork into a plate of Huevos Rancheros!
I’m literally salivating and crying into my keyboard as I type this and longing for another bite of this savory breakfast.
Huevos Rancheros ($9.99) Corn Tortillas, Poached Eggs, Jack Cheese, and Fire-roasted Salsa served with Avocado-Black Bean Pico de Gallo.
Every component of this dish was absolute perfection. I took my fork and pierced the poached egg and let the warm yolk cascade over the plate and proceeded to drag one of the crispy fried tortillas through the egg, salsa, black beans and pico…a perfect bite!
I could literally eat this for breakfast ‘every.day.of.my.life’…..
My hubby went a more traditional route.
Oscar’s Choice: All-American Breakfast ($9.99) Two Eggs any Style accompanied by Cafe Breakfast Potatoes and Biscuit served with your choice of Hickory-smoked Bacon or Chicken-Apple Sausage.
Another dining companion opted for two entrees. The Oscar’s Choice as well as the Mickey Waffle. It is vacation after all and Disney calories don’t count right?
Mickey-Shaped Waffle ($10.49) served with Hickory-smoked Bacon or Chicken-Apple Sausage Links. $10.49
And for the lighter eater in our bunch…
Fruit Parfait ($5.99) Seasonal Berries and Bananas, Vanilla Yogurt, and Granola.
I found the prices at Carnation Cafe to be super reasonable. We loved the atmosphere and service was impeccable. And those huevos rancheros….oh…my!!!!
Promise me you will give the cafe a try for breakfast on your next Disneyland vacation. I can’t wait to go back!
Have you dined at Carnation Cafe? What’s your favorite menu item there?
