2012 Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic in Pictures

2012 wdw swan and dolphin food and wine classicLast night was a whirlwind of food, wine, beer, cocktails, music and friends at the opening night of the 2012 WDW Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic! Is there any other way to spend a fall Friday evening in Orlando?  And as luck would have it, the resort property is doing it all over again just for you!  From 5:30 – 9:00pm tonight the promenade between the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts will be transformed into the 3rd annual Food and Wine Classic and you’re invited!

This year the event is offering seven educational seminars which you can add on to your promenade experience for $42.40. My husband and I went to “Wine Blending” last year and this year were able to sit in on “Modern Mixology”.

Our hosts for the Mixology class were Lindsay Skillman (B.A.R. Certified, Certified Sommelier/General Manager of Cabana Bar & Beach Club) and Aaron Simmons (Assistant General Manager of Shula’s in the WDW Dolphin).

We learned all about infusions, foams, torching and even got in on some liquid nitrogen action! Molecular caramel corn anyone?

We also had some darn tasty strawberry infused tequila cocktails!

After the Mixology course ended we made our way out onto the promenade to explore all the food and beverage options the event had to offer. There are two pricing plans this year. You can go a la carte and purchase tickets for $2 each. Individual offerings range from two to four tickets per item.  The better option is the causeway wristband which is $80 inclusive per person. This option gets you unlimited samplings of everything offered at the event.

My favorite sampling of the night was the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Slider with Iceberg lettuce and Old Bay Aioli on a Sesame Roll from the Garden Grove at the Swan.

The chefs manning the booths were amazing and added to the energy of the event.

And of course I couldn’t NOT stuff my face with the Dragon Roll from Kimono’s in the Swan… (so flattering!)

Tampa’s Cigar City Brewing was on hand and turned me on to a new beer that I absolutely LOVED Tocobaga Red Ale. This was served alongside fan favorites Jai Alai IPA and their Maduro Brown Ale.  Another treat was the Terrapin Hopsecutioner. There were much more beer samplings this year! Yes…we turned our wine glasses into elegant beer chalices.

Loved eating the fried pickles from Cib’s Smoke Shop alongside their Texas Style Beef Brisket.

We ended the evening meeting celebrity chef Todd English. Todd is the genius behind bluezoo in the Dolphin.

The Food and Wine Classic was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Although we did wait in a few lines, there were several booths that we could just walk up to and grab and go, especially as the evening came to a close.  Everyone in my party felt satisfied after the three and a half hours of eating, drinking and mingling. This is definitely an event not to be missed!

Head on out to the last day of the Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic tonight!  For more info visit SwanDolphinFoodandWineClassic.com

Special thanks to the Swan and Dolphin for providing me and my guest with complementary admission to the seminar and event. I was not required to write this post and all opinions are my own.
