PrintPOD Now Available at Select Deluxe Walt Disney World Resorts

PrintPODWhat in tarnation is a PrintPOD??? Those were my exact words when I spotted one in the lobby of Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

I was searching for an ATM when I spotted the PrintPOD, which looks similar to a freestanding ATM Machine.  As I approached the the machine I noticed a full keyboard and various outlets.

So what exactly is a PrintPOD?  The brochure I picked up described it as a mobile print solution and read… “Conveniently print on-the-go from your laptop, USB Drive or Smartphone in presentation quality color or black and white with the touch of a button.”

PrintPOD Kiosk at DisneyThis thing is fabulous! Now guests can print out boarding passes and driving directions right from the hotel’s PrintPOD!  Each kiosk features a touch-screen internet browser with three special travel portals: airline boarding passes, train schedules and reservations (Walt Disney World Railroad excluded), and maps and driving directions.  Looks like it might also be a lifesaver for convention guests who may have forgotten important presentation handouts or schedules.

The PrintPOD mobile printing network is the first of its kind. Its technology lets you send your print jobs 24/7 to on-line print servers from anywhere with internet access. You can use a traditional desktop computer, or print on the go with mobile devices like laptops, PDAs and SmartPhones.  And most PrintPOD kiosks are in wireless hotspots, so uploading on the fly is easy. Don’t have a laptop or PDA with you? No problem. Just print straight from a USB flash drive or almost 30 different kinds of media cards – like the ones from your SmartPhone or digital camera.  You can store your documents for 7 days, and long-term storage is coming soon.

A manager I spoke with told me that there are additional PrintPODs at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort.

Does this sound like a service you could use?

Until Next Time,

My question is, How much will pictures and documents cost to be printed up? This does seem like an awesome idea for people on-the-go or people who might have forgotten something.

I saw one of these at Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House as well. Do you know if or what the charges are for the service, Amanda?

If the price is reasonable, then this will be an awesome means to a different souvenir (i.e. print a picture of your child with Mickey at breakfast the day before and get Mickey to sign that picture when at EPCOT later in your visit). Unless you think to bring a pre-printed picture from a past trip, we often have to settle with the digital signature.

That a great idea. Wonder if there is an option to select photo paper? hmmmm
