This post continues the recap of the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration in Walt Disney World held last week…

In the early hours of the second day, I arrived at the entrance to Epcot, excited about the morning activity. I was on my way to The American Adventure where we were going to be having breakfast INSIDE the rotunda and listening to Guy Kawasaki speak! (sorry about the fuzzy photo) My fellow Mom Bloggers had boarded a bus from the Polynesian and were whisked to the rear cast entrance of World Showcase. Why was I all alone entering through the front? Well, I was attending on a local package that did not include lodging (though I did book a room at All Star Music for a few nights). The walk through Epcot’s Future World and World Showcase proved to be a blessing that day as I was able to get pics of the set-up for the evening’s festivities.

The evening celebration was to honor the Disney Family Volunteers that have contributed as part of the “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day” promotion.  So the theme for the set where the evening festivities were going to be held tied into that. It also tied in to another monumental event that day. A Guinness Book of World Records Set for the largest structure of canned food! (Which was donated to food banks in Miami, Orlando, and Atlanta)…more on that in a future video post, which includes celebrities.

For now, I leave you with the photos of the unique Celebrate Volunteers Canned Goods Stage Props and assorted press-only photo opps.

I love this Amanda! I'm really loving that you took close pics of all the cans…didn't even notice the clever verbiage on them when I was there! That was such a fun event too! Thanks! :)

Type your comment here” .You’ve gotta admit…When Disney does it…they do it BIG! ” thats almost an understatement. Maybe thats why they havent built a park in Texas. Geographically would be great but can you immagine how BIG it would have to be ?

The pictures are great Amanda, and it looks like it was a Super event. I was there last week with my family on vacation and had planned months ago to be at Epcot that day. Comming from Canada, I plan my trips sooo far in advance that there is no way to know what “special” events are planned. I have to admit I was TERRIBLY disappointed that Disney chose to have the event in an area that would inconvenience the full-paying guests so much, and would exclude them from doing the activities that were planned for months. Epcot has always been my family's favorite park, and the signs and closing of many areas to us as guests made me wonder where disney's priorities lay.

I annoy peeps I tour with cause I am always stopping to look at stuff. I'm sure the other guests think I'm batty!

I love Texas…well, I've only been to San Antonio but I liked that neck of the woods…

I totally understand where you're coming from Mary Beth. I had a chance to spend the day with some Disney execs when we were UStreaming from the Epcot Resort Area the other day and they were really concerned about not disrupting the guest experience and we tried to stay as far out of the way as we could.

The Celebrate Volunteers Event was a unique event…I have never seen these areas of Epcot closed to day guests EVER…so it is unlikely that it will happen again any time soon. I am so sorry that your experience wasn't completely magical.

There were mini can replicas that lit up as centerpieces for the tables that we ate on during the Dinner Impossible finale…more on that in a future post…
