I've never talked to any of the AK CM's but there are several of my Twitter and Facebook Friends that say they remember the Island fondly. I wish they still had the Ft. Wilderness Railroad up and running....

You know, Amanda, it's always so hard to see Discovery Island these days (when you pass by it) and to not wonder what it looks like NOW. You know?

CMs tell me that all the animals were moved to DAK, but I often wonder if the island is rotting away much like the old water park at FW....meaning all the old cages, etc.

As for the island itself, it looks it has been allowed to go back to an almost-original vegetation state, which I'm sure is great for the native wildlife.

Have you ever talked to any CMs at DAK about the island?

Wonder where the turtles went. If I'm not mistaken, I think there is one on display in the line for the Safari at Animal Kingdom.

I remember going there and the only part I really liked was the Cockatoo and Parrot area. I believe in the late 80's we visited there for the last time. When I went to Disney World on our honeymoon it was already extinct. I will have to dig around my parents house for some of our vintage Disney photos.
